Regular Meeting
Tuesday, March 18, 2014
7:00 P.M.
Present at the meeting were Norman Kappes, Linda Krinop, DeDee Holliday, Tammy Wilhoit, Mary Ann Gay, Cathy May, Marsha Bultman, Doris Fullmer, Scott White, Steve Linville, and Eric Roush.

Motion was made to waive the reading and adopt the pre-read minutes. Norman 1st, DeDee 2nd

Council accepted the resignation of John Newhart effective March 22, 2014.
Motion was made to hire Brett Linville for part-time summer help at $7.25 per hour. DeDee 1st, Norman 2nd
3 – ayes
Maxwell Construction will be replacing the two Community Center doors the second week of April.
Gas Department – the leak survey was completed last week and Steve has completed the testing for recertification for his operator’s qualification.
Street Department – they will start cleaning streets and Steve has contacted Ripley County concerning 2 abandoned homes.
Mary Ann Gay will be checking into an unsafe building on North Elm Street.
Police Department – Eric Roush gave his monthly statistical report. He also stated that semi trailers are getting hung up on the Railroad Tracks at Allen’s Crossing. He believes they are leaving Hazen Paper and trying to get to the Seymour area. Linda asked him to go speak with Hazen Paper.
Fire Department - Steve Linville gave a 1st quarter report: 32 runs (8 fire, 24 first response) and 230 man hours of training.
Versailles-Osgood Delta Rho Chapter of Tri Kappa, Inc – Marsha Bultman was present and stated that they are celebrating their 75th anniversary and wanted to ask the Council to issue a proclamation declaring that April 2014 as “Versailles-Osgood Delta Rho Chapter Awareness Month”. On April 14th from 6-8 they will be having an open house at the REMC.
Motion was made to declare April 2014 Versailles-Osgood Delta Rho Chapter Awareness Month. DeDee 1st, Norman 2nd

Doris Fullmer – 242 N. Elm Street, asked if anything could be done with the water that flows in the back of her property. She built a bridge so she could cross over and mow the other side. The water flow has been eroding the land around the legs on the bridge. Linda will get with Steve and check on this.
Commonwealth Engineers – Al Stong was here to pick up Contracts for the U.S. 421 Project. Johannigman Excavating was awarded the contract.
Marsha Bultman asked about parking at the intersection of Buckeye and North Streets. It is very hard to pull out because you cannot see. Eric Roush will look into this matter.
A letter is being mailed to the Inter-Community Medical Center Inc. to request a meeting with their Board of Directors.
