Street Department – Steve Wilhoit stated the salt is gone; they’ve already used the salt budget for the 2013/2014 winter. Salt is normally $60 per ton, now it is going for $200 per ton. Also, he will be working with Roger Kottlowski from Commonwealth Engineers concerning ADA requirements and compliance.

Sewer Department – Tony Wood stated the permit modifications for chlorides has been received. Best Metal is not putting spent zinc into the sewer system. A service line is scheduled for repair as soon as the weather improves. He has received a $500 grant from the Black Foundation for a locator. He will now try to apply to the Ripley County Community Foundation for another $500. Tony and Nick will be attending a conference in March for CEU’s with the Indiana Rural Water Alliance.

Fire Department – Steve Linville stated they may be changing things around. There may be a possibility of increasing the roster. Any new people coming on were required to have fire and EMS training. They are having trouble getting people to do both. They are looking at changing by laws to have members go both ways. He wants Council to be aware since there would be a burden on insurance.
